CHRISTMAS DINNER WITH FRIENDS

The holidays are great for so many reasons, including that everyone comes home from school. It's so nice to be able to catch up with everyone. A couple of nights ago, I was reunited with Gabi (of burning my travels clean) and Amy (of flying a kite). The three of us headed out to a HiFi Club for some live music. I'm sure neither of them are going to be too pleased with these photos making it to Blogspot ... and Twitter ... and Facebook, but there are sadly no other photos in existence of the three of us. They just needed to be posted! We danced, we drank, we talked, and it was fantastic.

Last night was my highly anticipated (by myself) holiday party with some friends. I had planned on full-on decorating my house with homemade decorations, but sadly didn't end up having a single second for crafts. Gabi made the lovely snowflake coasters, while I was frantically cooking. They will soon be hanging in my bedroom. It'll be winter all year long, but without the cold. Dinner went surprisingly well. The party was ugly sweater themed, and oh there were some ugly pieces of clothing there. Ugly in a fabulous way though. It was my first time hosting, and I was worried that we would not have enough food. As it turns out, we had MORE than enough. My brother and parents will be eating our remnants for days now. It was charming to see everyone again and have a bit of a chance to catch up. I'm excited to host more parties in the future!

Well, that's it for the holiday themed posts. My tree and the rest of the Christmas decorations come down today.

ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH: CHRISTMAS WITH THE FAMILY

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays lovelies!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been busy preparing for the holiday, and it's nice to see things coming together so smoothly. The first thing on my agenda was to create (and finish) my annual Christmas cd, which I call the HIRP (Holiday Indie Rock Playlist - and it's funny to say). Surprisingly, I managed to get all of the copies done, as well as the artwork. This year I decided to add a little something else, and did quite a bit of baking to go along with all of the c.d.'s.

Next came the actual holiday filled with a morning of breakfast and Vinyl Cafe. I made caramel french toast, omelettes, hashbrowns and fruit parfaits for my family. After breakfast was a short spout of gift opening, followed by a full afternoon of preparing for dinner with our extended family.

The evening was lovely. Lots of laughter, story telling, cheer and probably too many drinks flowing. Ah! I just love the holidays. The day is over, but my spirits are still high. I just need to get through the next few crazy days (Boxing Day at the mall - EEK), and then my second Christmas dinner will be here! This time around it's with friends, and I am so excited! There is still much to do, and although I am slightly freaking out about that, the excitement is still ranking #1.

Happy Holidays again my loves! I hope yours were as fantastic as mine.
