While in Canmore, we of course had to make a stop in Banff to walk down Main. The grand majority of the stores found here are gift shops, so once you’ve been into one you’ve pretty much seen the gist of what’s to offer. However, Gabi and I were on a quest for really rad (and inexpensive) dreamcatchers, so we went into pretty much every gift shop on the strip. We ended up buying the ones that we saw in the very first store we went into. Banff also has a lot of really sweet restaurants to eat at (although we didn’t) and a wicked candy shop filled with just about anything you could possibly be looking for. I snagged some coke balls for my brother, Smarties fudge for my dad and some Bottle Caps for a good friend of mine. Who can forget the amazing view in Banff? You’re surrounded by mountains. It’s very picturesque.

After Banff we headed to Grassi Lakes Trail for a nice little hike. There are two trails that you can take - easy and hard. We opted for the hard trail on the way up even though Nicole was wearing flip flops! Thankfully it wasn’t too challenging, although we stopped a couple of times on the way up (and a couple more to take photos). The trail was rad! You go straight up the mountain and over little streams to reach these gorgeous little lakes with the most pristine green water. It was very cool. On the way down we took the easy trail. It was boring, but I’m glad we did that instead of the hard way! It would have been a definite challenge getting down (I am prone to falling a bazillion times).

Back at the condo, Gabi and Nicole put together a nice little dinner for themselves. We then went hot tubbing, and came back for another evening of cards and shisha.

I am always so thankful for my weekends in Canmore! It’s so nice to get away (even for a short while) and relax in good company. Come to think of it, this may have been the last time that we have one of these weekends! Next year we will most likely all be spread out across the country. How bittersweet! That just makes me appreciate last weekend even more.

What have you been doing now that the weather is warming up (sort of - it’s been raining in Calgary)? I’m looking forward to summer hitting hard and spending my days picnicing, taking in Calgary for the last time, doing some more hiking and spending a lot of time with my friends.
